Tamajii Inc is the brainchild of Laurent Domenech-Cabaud (left) and Pascal Vantrepote (right).
- We are longtime Apple fans.
- We think the iPad is a revolution because it enables a direct connection between your ideas and the document. Plus it’s fun!
- We started Tamajii for 1 and 2.
The Tamajii name comes from a Japanese spirit illustrated by Takeshi Kitano (AKA Beat Takeshi) as part of a show displaying his paintings and installations.
TIMELINE
1994 Laurent marries Clémentine. 1995 Laurent founds Opalis, an automation software company for the Windows Server platform. 1997 Laurent hires Pascal. Pascal and Laurent become friends. Laurent merges Opalis with a Dutch partner. 1999 Opalis moves to Toronto. For incredible reasons, Pascal does not follow the move and leaves Opalis. 2000 Laurent starts a 4-year effort to convince Pascal to come and work for Opalis in Toronto. On a totally unrelated move, Pascal goes to live in London (as part of his work for a SAP integrator). 2001 Laurent comes back to France and commutes monthly to Toronto (tiring). 2004 Pascal finally comes to Toronto and works for Opalis again. 6 months later, Pascal leaves Opalis and goes to work for Platespin. 2005 Laurent leaves Opalis and starts an electric motorcycles import business. (Oh no! Too early!) 2007 Laurent comes back to computing and web consulting. 2008 Novell acquires Platespin. 2009 Microsoft acquires Opalis. 2010 Laurent and Pascal found Tamajii Inc to develop iPad apps. Pascal marries Michele.
